Assalam-u-alaikum
Lest
someone loses the battle of life
Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) said,
“He who becomes ignorant from matters of others,
is not one of us”.
Serving fellow humans is the ascent of humanity.
Helping the deprived, needy and helpless is indeed
our raison d'être.
Thousands of our compatriot brothers
and sisters, who left their homeland in search of
green postures abroad hoping to become a support
for their dependents, have themselves become dependents
due to various unforeseen difficulties.
Pakistan Association Dubai, the center point of
the hope of Pakistani Community in the UAE, established
its Welfare Committee following the vision to support
those very Pakistanis. A weekly welfare camp is
conducted on every Monday in its premises. Where
40/50 distressed Pakistanis are heard and their
problems are solved as per committee’s potential.
In this respect, Pakistan Association Dubai spends
weekly an amount of AED.20,000/-totaling to AED.80,000/-
a month approximately. We have spent AED.300,000/-
in the last six months which surpasses all previous
spending during same period.
Unfortunately, due to the recent Global Financial
Recession, our sources are drying out and several
of our donors have themselves become victim to the
present financial crunch. Nevertheless, irrespective
of the circumstances we have to move forward with
your help as it is our duty and debt towards our
fellow beings.
We request you to come forward and help us to counter
this gigantic task by donating selflessly and informing
the fellow countrymen of PAD’s activities,
thus helping equally. Lest not someone consider
him/her self alone in this hour of need and lose
the battle of life. We have to become a ray of hope
for them... CLICK

Managing Your Time.. Manage Your Attention |
|
You
can not trade bad hours for good ones, what you
can manage, however, is your attention.
|
No matter
what you do, time marches on at its own pace—tick,
tick, tick—and there's nothing you can do
to change that (unless you can go pretty close to
the speed of light). Time is a great equalizer;
it runs at the same speed for everybody, rich or
poor, jet pilot or snail farmer. You can't manufacture
time, you can't reproduce time, you can't slow time
down or turn it around and make it run in the other
direction. You can't trade bad hours for good ones,
either.
What
you can manage, however, is your attention. Attention
is a resource we all possess. Your attention reflects
your conscious decisions about which activities
will occupy your time. You are where your attention
is not necessarily where your body is.
The
first step is to precisely understand your priorities.
There's a big difference between managing your attention
to accomplish priorities and checking off items
on your to-do list. Our natural tendency is to do
what is fun, convenient, or absolutely necessary
at any given time—but your true priorities
may not fit into any of those categories. So, here's
a question to ask yourself, "If I could accomplish
only one thing right now, what would that one thing
be?" Your answer will quickly identify your
top priority, where you should be directing your
attention.
Dwight
D. Eisenhower, the World War II general who went
on to become a popular president of the United States,
used what is now called the Eisenhower Method for
managing priorities and attention. After identifying
the tasks confronting him, he drew a square and
divided it into four quadrants as seen below. I
have overlaid the 4 D's into each quadrant to further simplify the actions
you should take. Each and every task should have
one of the 4 D's performed on it – Do it, Dump it, Delegate
it or Defer it.
Be sure to distinguish between "urgent"
and "important" activities. Important
activities are beneficial and should be accomplished,
if not right away, then eventually. Urgent activities
are time sensitive, but not necessarily crucial
to your bigger goals.
As you
identify priorities, be realistic about what you
can accomplish. Be honest with yourself about what
you truly want to achieve in your life and work.
Where do you want to invest your attention? Although
important tasks are your top priorities, most of
the time these are not the things that appear to
be urgent. Don't be fooled into thinking that whatever
seems urgent is worth taking your attention from
your most important goal. Eisenhower's mantra was
"What's important is seldom urgent, and what's
urgent is seldom important." Less important
priorities should not receive more attention than
more important priorities.

Let's
Speak is a PAD initiative to have a dialog with
the community and air opinions of community
members on different issues.
This
time our Q&A session focuses on the current
Recession. Following are the responses received
to PAD Editorial Team's Questionnaire:
|
Q1:
How does the recession affect social behavior
of an individual?
|
 |
 |
 |
 |
It
leads to frustration and perplexity
which might even lead to an increase
in crime rate.
Syed Taha
|
Recession
all over the world has created a sense
of fear in employees of all organizations
for loss of job, sense of fear for owners
of organizations to incur loss, reduction
of volume of business. Most of the organizations
have scratch to take measures to reduce
the cost.
Naveed Ahmed
|
Social behavior grows once an individual
or family is living happily and their
basic necessaties are meeting in time,
which are not meeting presently.
Ayaz Qureshi
|
Significant
change is observed amongst individual's
social behavior. Laid-off people avoid
public meetings even post Juma prayers gathering. In general lack of
trust is dominant.
Nihal Abdul Rab
|
|
Q2:
What in your opinion mainly caused the recession? |
 |
 |
 |
 |
Well,
many reasons have been defined by by
experts,but honestly speaking it returns
within couple of decades with same reason,
Irregular cash flow or you can call
it storage of funds within few people
/ institutions.
Nihal Abdul Rab
|
In
my personal opinion the financial institute
have been playing with investors money
all over the world and it is greed of
individuals that made the Lehman Bank
collapse. There is more debts in this
world than the assets
Fazal
Lasharie
|
Generation
of toxic assets(irrecoverable debts),
Global banks and brokerages have had
to write off an estimated $512 billion
in sub prime losses with the largest
hits taken by Citicorp ($55.1 billion)
and Merrill Lynch ($52.2 billion).
Farooq
Hassan
|
There
is only one cause of recession i.e.
interest. Allah & His messenger
have declared war against us and until
& unless we make truce with Allah
& His messenger, we are bound to
doom. We have to eliminate riba from
our financial system as it is having
a bleeding effect on our lives.
Faheem uddin Ahmed
|
|
Q3:
By when do you expect the full turnaround?
|
 |
 |
 |
 |
It
will be not easy, it will at least take
another 2 years to get back to normal
stage and then start from that point
to the trend which would be in future.
No one can really predict at which speed
this will be recovered.
Manzoor
Ahmad
|
By
mid of 2010, we can see the growth started
in economies with stability achieved
in mid of 2011.
Naveed
Ahmed
|
We
cannot predict this; UK's Economy is
still in recession and USA is on crutches.
European Economy is struggling and being
a large community will make it as they
are not linked to Dollar. Still it may
take some 9 to 12 months.
Fazal
Lasharie
|
Full
turnover takes fives years for example,
re session begins in 1983 end-up totally
in 1989. In world war-II it took longer.
There is one difference this time, stimulating
injections or bail-out plans could minimize
its duration.
Nihal
Abdul
|
|
Q4:
What role did the media play?
|
 |
 |
 |
 |
Did
provide useful information alongside
creating panic.
Salam
M Ahmed
|
Media is playing good and bad role.
It depends on the presentation of turbulence
as few take it positively and few get
demoralized.
Nihal
Abdul
|
Media is front line fighter as regard
to Pak in the current situations-if
we realize!
Hafeez
Farooq
|
The
media did not expose the correct reason
which is riba based economy.
Faheem
Uddin Ahmed
|
|
Q5:
Can you help job seekers? If yes, how?
|
 |
 |
 |
 |
I think govt. and businesses can play
a much greater role...by taking the
responsibility of a few unemployed workers...like
the Job Seeker's Allowance in the U.K.
or how China is helping its unemployed
....I mean govt. should encourage the
opening up of new businesses at any
cost.
Syed
Taha
|
Job portals were very much helpful in
all sort of industries and together
the Gulf News adds for job wanted was
the biggest source specially in UAE.
Naveed
Ahmed
|
Yes!
I am praying-This is my job, because
I know wealth and its utilization and
its distribution is the job of someone
else! Who we should pray to.
Hafeez Farooq
|
I will recommend to influential people
to accommodate in any organization (Service
industry) if possible. Some succeeded,
Alhamdolillah.
