Twenty20 Final Match

Editorial

Assalam-u-alaikum

Pakistanis are an amazing folk! They are full of talent, energy and passion. When they are determined and united they can prove the world wrong. They can turn out be champions against all odds and they can go to any length in sacrifice when their brethren call for help.

The last couple of months have proven, once again, all of the above to be true.
Overwhelming response to the call of the nation for helping Internally Displaced People (IDPs) of Swat, Buner, Dir and Malakand has demonstrated the real spirit of our community.

Pakistan Association Dubai has, once again, set a new record by registering its own NGO under the name of “PAD Relief” in Pakistan. Members of our Executive Committee are leading a team of volunteers that is busy in distributing relief goods to IDPs in different relief camps that were donated by Pakistani Community in the UAE. PAD Relief is also adopting a temporary hospital in Thana, Malakand Division; we are committed to keep our promise of ensuring that every Dirham paid by our donors is spent for the right purpose and with full responsibility.

Amidst this grave situation, Pakistan’s Cricket Team emerged triumphant champions of the T20 World Cup. This unexpected win unleashed a new wave of pride and patriotism in the nation. PAD, as usual, provided a platform and a grandiose occasion for the community to celebrate the glorious victory.

This month also witnessed the beginning of a new era at PAD with respect to education. PAD’s Education Seminar on 26 June attended by hundreds of students, parents and teachers, representing dozens of Pakistani schools in the UAE and people from all areas of Pakistan has encouraged our team to turn their full attention to the much deserved issue of grooming our youth to become healthy members of society and excel on all professional fronts.

Let us all pitch in and do our part of the work to prepare Pakistan to face all future challenges and emerge as a successful nation!

Twenty20 Final Match at PAD

Jeetay Ga Bhai Jeetay Ga ‘Pakistan Will Win’ was the slogan perpetually chanted by an enthusiastic crowd that filled the auditorium of Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) on Sunday, 21st June while watching on a mammoth screen the final match of Twenty20 World Cup between Pakistani and Sri Lankan cricket teams.

The space within the auditorium has been used for various types of indoor activities for thousands of Pakistanis living in different parts of the UAE and those who attend the official programs of the PAD.

The cheering crowd comprised mostly of youngsters who showed a great spirit throughout the match and shouted full-throat slogans during fine deliveries by bowlers. The scene resembled the thrilling atmosphere at the stadium.

Farrukh Raza Siddiqui, Sports Secretary of PAD, said: “It was a great experience to provide a big screen opportunity of get-together to the Pakistani community living in the UAE. In this regard, we have a database of Pakistanis residing in the UAE and, like other major events, all members were informed through email and SMS about the facility of screening the live match coverage. We are delighted on the huge turn-up of people, including families who were given a separate dedicated space in the hall to enjoy the match.

In the end Muhammad Riaz Farooq Sahi, president of PAD, congratulated the community for the victory of T20 and also announced to organize a celebration night on 24th of June 2009 which was a successful event in which students of many schools participated and showed tremendous performance.

The highlights of the final match were shown on the projector from which questions were posed to participating children. Those who gave the correct answers got prizes. There were Milli Naghmey, and many other performances.

Certificates of appreciation were given to the in-charge of the volunteers Mr. Kabul Wazir and Ms. Nisa Rahim and other hardworking volunteers. Special shields were presented to the representatives of local Pakistani media namely ARY, GEO, ATV, Khyber TV, The National Newspaper, Khaleej Times, Gulf News and Daily Al Sharq.

Educational Seminar at PAD

A number of school students and teachers participated in the seminar; a lively Q&A session between teachers, students, parents and presenters was also a part of this program. Welfare Counselor Mir Azhar Ali Talpur was the chief guest.

The function started at 9:30 pm with the recitation of the Holy Quran and a Naat followed by the national anthems of UAE and Pakistan. Muhammad Khaleeq General Secretary of PAD was the moderator on stage. First he invited Mrs. Samina Nasir, the Secretary of the Education & Personal Development Committee, who gave an introductory speech about the objectives of her committee. Beside introducing her team members she also elaborated on the upcoming activities of PAD related to education.

Two renowned scholars, Mr. Anees Ahmed (CEO Excellence in Education Centre, Dubai) and Mr. Ahmed Furqan Al-Quaid (Business Lecturer, Preston University, Ajman) shared their views and experiences with hundreds of students, teachers and parents about “Career Counseling” and “Time Management” respectively.

A refreshing break was provided by the children of Pakistan Islamia Secondary High School Ajman who presented a tableau comprising of Iqbal’s renowned prayer-poem “Lab Pay Aati Hey Du’a”.

In his brief address, Mr. Azhar Ali Talpur, Welfare Counselor of Pakistan Consulate in Dubai, praised the efforts of PAD team for the social welfare of the community and invited them to be more involved in the further development of Pakistani schools in U.A.E.

An extensive question & answer session followed thereafter. Six selected students joined the session on-stage with the respected presenters where as dozens of parents, teachers and students asked thought-provoking questions from the audience. Students raised various questions related to time management, stress, guardians, friends and future aims upon the well known scholars, who satisfied the students with their detailed answers.

In his concluding address, Muhammad Riaz Farooq Sahi, President of PAD appreciated the efforts of the Education & Personal Development Committee and informed all the teachers and students that PAD is for them, they can use this platform in teaching, learning and that they will be supported and guided in the right direction in their lives.

The seminar ended at 11:30pm followed by a delicious dinner served in the lawn.

Slumber of Great Lions is Great Too

Being the favourite underdogs, Pakistan proved their critics and those who slid onto the other side with them utterly wrong and confused. Certainty is one thing where businesses are based, but unpredictability is nature’s forte; no one foresaw great storms and earthquakes, so did none wished Pakistan would be the problem child in the cricketing extravaganza.

The nation, the people, the youth, the players embellished the belief that greats are capable to find way into our mainstream but not necessarily to be injected to get that infused feeling of higher bonding where struggles culminate for perfection.

Pakistan emerged heroically and valiantly victorious, which couldn’t have come at a better time when the military has locked horns, they needed fresh breath of revived energies which came in swiftly from none a better place like Lords, the precedents of which dreamt us to be dissolved, against which the chivalry is in the best display.

Pakistan was totally on the cards never thought to be trumps, reliving the days of 1992, the lucky era where 3 world honours were treasured. 17 years and the honour has relived again. The spirits were high, went further higher leading the nation to the much needed depth of unity which went missing through the rubbles of unrest and racial conspiracies.
Nation stood, nation saw and the nation conquered. Yet again, proving the elders wrong that the Messiah has to rise again but not from here. Ours is a nation which has to have the ingredient of direction, other than that the formula is unique in its own standards.

The momentous rewriting of history is temporary but if cherished and ingrained it stands together which was visible very much in the celebratory aura, are we in despair and disparity?
The lines had vanished permanently, for a moment though. This creed is what is desired to bond this nation, the day it forms the lining of the yolk, that day shall see it ahead in leagues against others.

Shall this victory be one of those infinite ones which we can mark and carve out of possibilities and future, all we need is a chance through transparent and enforced. Just one chance.

This victory to the martyrs of the army, the unheard and the downtrodden who live on hope and a dollar a day.

Pakistan Pa’aindabad.

Meeting at Pakistan Embassy - Abu Dhabi

A delegation consisting of 25 respected members of Pakistani Community, representing Pakistan People’s Party, Pak Emirates Welfare Forum, Pakhtoon Group and Pakistan Association Dubai visited the Embassy of Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi on 30 June 2009 to address some important and current issues.

His Excellency the Ambassador, Khursheed Ahmed Junego welcomed the delegation with great respect and honor. One important point on the agenda was to put on record our community’s protest against the very unexpected and undue transfer of the Consul General Dr. Saeed Khan Mohmund that is allegedly based on the complaint of one individual. The delegation expressed its concern that such actions may seriously limit the independent functioning of future diplomats and divide the united community into groups.

The second issue raised in the meeting was regarding the stoppage on work visas for Pakistani nationals. His Excellency the Ambassador promised to look into this matter and resolve the same as soon as possible.

Towards the end of the meeting, Riaz Farooq Sahi, President of PAD shared the good news about the recently granted Dubai Municipality’s final approval for the construction of the long-awaited multipurpose hall at the premises of the association. Mr. Junejo congratulated the delegation and reiterated his promise to arrange 75% of the construction expenses through the Foreign Office.

The meeting ended with a delicious lunch sponsored by Mr. Khan Zaman of Ibrahimi Restaurant.

What you sow, so shall you reap

A very powerful action that someone can do to attract success and create an abundant life is to realize and understand the power of giving, by way of giving unconditionally. It is a tremendously intense force magnetizing in you and your life; it will instantaneously take place at the mental, physical and spiritual platform of existence.

The universal laws that are in control over “giving and receiving” are spiritual as well as it is scientific. When you give more, you achieve and attract more in return.

Spiritual, that of whatever one will sow so shall he reap. Scientific, that of Isaac Newton’s motion theory which affirms that for each action there will always be an equal or opposite response or reaction. Meaning to say, when these laws will be implemented into one’s daily life, one attracts and creates the abundance or success which he/she desires.

Most individuals often associate giving, as about offering money. Although donating in terms of money comprises a great component, always know that the meaning of giving extends beyond money. When one thinks of giving in monetary terms, then one falls to the sentiment of scarcity, with the thought of what he has to give. The very act of sharing challenges directly one’s crooked beliefs and perceptions about inadequacy.

Giving is a power which stems from a very selfless act, that of simply giving from the heart. Wherein the act is not at all connected to any special occasion, such as Christmas, a birthday or any holiday celebration, rather it is “anytime”, primarily for one reason that is wanting to share what it is that you have, showing your gratitude and showing how you actually care. There must be no other reason behind it. Keep in mind that you do not give because you expect nothing in return.

Giving from your heart signals positive reactions to the universe, ignites your inner powers and sends out positive energy that will be picked up by others; this message that you transmit results in positive reactions that you will also pick up in time.

The response will be very overwhelming, often, as if thousands of helping hands come to offer help and stay with you in times when you need help, even without asking. Things will definitely fall into the proper place, because those willingly to give will get back what they had given a thousand fold.

This simple act of sharing unconditionally with full understanding and recognition that one has plenty and trust that he/she will continually have sufficient supply of all his needs produces a bond or connection between him and his higher power, universe, spirit, God or whoever one considers his higher supreme authority that is over him.

That connection is called trust in that higher power, which one declares that he, will always have plentiful, more than his needs and more to share with others, mainly because he trusts God.

One will earn the love and respect of the recipients of his act. One is always confident that there will always be someone who will protect and help him because of their gratitude, because humans will always have that need and impulse to give back any act of compassion that one has demonstrated.

Keep in mind though that, this does not imply that you should expect those that you have helped to do something for you in return. Just share and do not worry about the rewards. Give and share primarily because you feel a great source of happiness by doing it. The universe, that superior outside force will bring you back so many blessings at the right time, in its unique way, beyond your understanding.

The very act of sharing and giving will summon joy’s spirit to fill your heart. That feeling of overwhelming joy you experience when you have helped someone, when that someone thanked you, that itself is already true success.

Likewise, giving is a very healthy habit. It can prolong life when one feels that sense of inner accomplishment and peace.

Let fear and selfishness not be your source for giving. Always give from the heart and be aware of the little miracles that will start to arrive instantaneously.

Giving is truly a part of one’s human nature. That is the reason why when one does it one finds fulfillment and joy, as well as attracting so much blessings that can truly lead to success in all forms.
