What Does the Eye Command My Lord? – Be the light, the flame |

Quite vicious words quoted here from the celebrated film, Lord of the Rings. A question arises though that how much have we been, as a unified nation, from the cricket grounds to universities to the higher office bearing echelons of Power have we been submissive to our conscience? Let alone that, how many of us are indeed, pursuing wisdom in our lives from the past generations? How many of us are leading a less miserable life where the shenanigans of life of age and mishaps don’t make us trip over our missions and visions? Countless or nobody? Perhaps a fraction exists but that is not noticeable. Reason? De-cohesion; deliberate or ignorantly, but we haven’t had a retrospective questioning of our failures which speak aloud unabated and resounding in every discourse.
Were we really destined to be this farcical? Probably not, still when thinking minds are regrouped with visionaries, we ought to find the light at the end of the tunnel. But is that light what we want for the other generations to see or should we abandon it halfway through? Perhaps not, hope is what make failures the last nail in failures but we seldom realize it. Hope is what withers away the pain of failures. Hope is what creates the passion. Reenergize, regroup, rethink, a forceful rebuttal is needed of what we have endorsed and forced and dictated upon us.
The Pakistan community, brimming with unbridled and undirected energies in all walks of life, are given yet another chance, where they would not be ‘allowed’ to diminish the very seedling of unity. Yes, not being allowed is their right which others would honestly exercise over them to lead them. When the vicious can control us, why not those who stand out solemn at our self-imposed and scattered failures?
From the platform of Dubai, we as Pakistanis have rejoined yet again, to bring change. But how much are we ready for it? Change in social outlook, intellectual well being and spiritual change. Does anyone have the courage to the take the first and shove off the burden we are carrying. The burden of status quo, which for years we have been scaring and pushing the middle class to the level of the richer. Riches is not the benchmark. But collective attitude is.
To start off, the attitude of simplicity is what can be commanding. The intellectual simplicity has to see the dawn in our nation. Take the step and cast away the inhibitions, light is indeed there at the end of the tunnel. If there isn’t, be your own light to enlighten all around us. Be the flint, which can burn the forests for the stars to see light greater than theirs.
So much for the introduction, I personally congratulate and look with awe at those who have a burning heart to make it happen sincerely when precedents stand with odds; and odds too great.
A step, a word, a nerve moved, an effort, a brick in the long journey of thousand miles would go a long long way indeed. Jinnah lives on.
More to come.
Pakistan Zindabad.
